Like the last few years, the public will have a chance to view this year's entries, download the hacks and vote for Community Trophies which are only applicable to Contest entries. I'll be back with more info after typing up the guide. We considered the possibility of moving SHC outwith the middle of October but have decided to keep it as the most suitable week. Screen Resolution (Lowest being 640x480, highest being shown by the launcher) Screen Refresh Rate in Hz (anything over 60hz will require this sort of fix, I'd imagine) Meanwhile, be checking and noting two main things on your computer's overall specs: Not only is it free, but more feature filled (and neater in presentation) than plain editing with default notepad applications. ini files, I'd reccomend Notepad++ as a tool of the trade. I'll be doing some guide writing shortly, and will share a link to it in this discussion when it is in a presentable form. (Side note: Due to my highly under-powered laptop's specs, I run SA2 at that rate / resolution the best, even if the launcher doesn't allow me to pick 640x480 60hz as a resolution.) How so? It involves editing a file within Sonic Adventure 2's subdirectory that houses the configuration settings, and making sure to keep within the limits on both frame-rate (no more than 60hz) and screen resolution (lowest I use being 640 width and 480 height, stretched full-screen). It would seem a reasonable place to start is knowing that you can quite easily "force" the game to run at a specific resolution and even manually set the refresh rate. Be it your screen refreshes faster than 60hz or your full range of screen resolutions aren't available. The problems seem to occur between the launcher-to-game phase of startup, after reading severel discussions here. There may be a way to accomplish this, but it -will- require some knowledge of your computer's setup and a few workarounds. I've been asked about any possible fixes / solutions to SA2 failing to launch and/or running at "ludicrous speeds".
